The Safe Learning Institutions Initiative (SLII) is a consortium made up of five organisations, namely Research and Advocacy Unit (RAU), Veritas Zimbabwe, Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ), Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum (the Forum) and Christians Students’ Movement of Zimbabwe (SCMZ). The consortium envisages learning institutions in which learners and teachers are able to maximise their gifts in an atmosphere of safety, dignity and respect. As a result of the events that have happened over the past two weeks, the SLII condemns the attack on teachers, parents and guardians that have been subject to violent attacks. If teachers and parents are not safe from political violence, then children will be the indirect victims, and the future of the country is at serious risk.
